I am the hollow woman. by Madeline PestolesiTerrified at the prospect of losing
That which I hold most dear.
Confused by the response to my questions
Confused by my feelings objective to his.
Decifering the codes
That lie within the lines of e-mails
Sent across continents.
Decifering the mood
The e-mail was written in
As though my life depends on the outcome.
ButHowCanIBeSureHowHeFeelsIfHeWon'tMakeTheEffortOfWritingTheThreeLittleWordsILongToRead
And hear from his lips?
Why is it easier to talk about everything else but "I love you?"
Torn by the trauma of long-distance
Vs. I love you
And I sadly wonder who will triumph?
Not me. Not him.
But the distance. 03/15/2005 Posted on 03/15/2005 Copyright © 2025 Madeline Pestolesi

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 05/07/05 at 01:40 AM Madeline, isn't this what every woman wonders? Whether they have a guy or not? Probably. Good work with the topic. I like how you didn't use the words until the end of the poem.
