Nothing New by Richard VinceShe leans out over the world
Gazing in despair
With the windows open
Without a universal solution
She has no way to get anywhere any more.
So I tell her to close the window
Because I dont want her to fall
Even though it takes away the stench
Of the perfume
But she just sees the places she wants to go
And thinks she has no means to reach them.
I try to tell her there is always more than one
Way to get anywhere, but
She stopped listening to me hours ago.
All that she wants
Is to be among the flickering leaves
Or to be nestling in the eiderdown clouds.
But, come tomorrow,
Shell forget how that feeling felt
And forget where she wanted to be.
Everything will be as before
And she will have learned nothing.
