From Below (Pt. II)

by T.J. Carver

So you run
Leaving the sand
And I behind
Thinking I can't see.

You wrestle with your fears,
Old wounds threaten.
The familiar sting
Torn by love and doubt.

Do you wonder how this came to pass?
Confused and frightened
You couldn't let me follow
Cold in your hurt.

So you run
Leaving the sand
And I behind
Thinking I can't see.

Wondering about this reality,
Denying a future,
The greyness pervades your heart.
Clouded, you rage.

You gave yourself away
Belonging to another.
Fighting with the pain,
Struggling with loss.

So you run
Leaving the sand
And I behind
Thinking I can't see.

So the sands erase us both,
Leaving the shades of
Heartache and Loss
Crucified and buried.

What we gave was not enough
But denying the fates
Gave us bliss
If only for a while.

So you ran
Leaving the sand
And I behind
Praying I wouldn't see.
