Duality by T.J. CarverThe silence, thick with the tears and dusty emotions.
The hurt, unbalanced between the two.
She grazes his flesh, palm catching a remorseful tear.
He strokes her skin, flesh burning from the mist.
Their palms embrace, mixing the tears
Of heartache, pain, loss...failure.
Lips quivering, they hold to the past;
Faces turned away from the pain.
Turning, they fade not from memory
But pass from each other's sight.
One is lost without the other's love: a simple touch.
The other, passing slowly, fevered with guilt.
The pain makes them two
The pain makes them one.
