Life's deception by Marlon DeLeonthe tulip trees always dragged after heavy rain
in eagerness for someone's warmth
night and morning with my tears
for now I see the true old times are dead
already, in the still depths of some dream
the fist clenched round my heart
gripping the ledge of unreason, before
those eyes that sucked the breath from me
like dozen spiders carrying the poison
I gamble everything to be what I am
the fool I always keep hidden
so I never know who I am
and the pain still throbs in the old, old scars
doubtless there are other roads
I took the one less traveled by,
and that made all the difference
