Dark Prison

by Charles M Harrison

Hurt, despair, pain and grief
It has known these things beyond belief.
Sorrow upon sorrow, tears upon tears,
It cries in blackness where no on hears.
Disappointment, dissolutions, heartaches and more
It fears these things will come as before.
Dark upon dark, night upon night,
It screams and hides away from it's fright.
Love, trust, comfort and care
It runs from these things like a timid hare.
Wound upon wound, scar upon scar,
This is all it's memories are.
Brick upon brick, stone upon stone,
Dark prison is this hearts only home.
