road to Erehwon by Charlie Morgan
some march with the lightness of lithium,
others with boots of lead.
giggles and moans are the voices of movement
as we all walk to Ehehwon.
we trod harshly on the spines of progress
searching for the unknowable.
exclaiming as we move, "i found it, this is it!"
and it disappears with an eye-rub.
so far ahead is everyone, so far behind am i,
as i crane my neck to see others.
"hold up! wait!" i screech like a barn owl
and gather my senses for balance.
am i first of the last or last of the first?
questions, questions! no answer.
my position nullified by constancy of change
and change of constancy.
