Vance by Karl WaldbauerBlue eyes
Holding back the tears
Holding back the pain
Babys got blue eyes
And shes alone again.
Long ago
Sitting in the park
I noticed a runner
Jogging in the summer sun
You stopped to rest in the shade of my tree
And asked for a drink
Sweating buckets, you took the bottle
Smiled your big, bright smile
That lit up those
Blue eyes
Deep sea blue
Clear sky blue
Recently
Driving through the traffic
My radio was playing Blue Eyes
And I thought of you
Smiled an ironic smile as a tear tried to run down my cheek
Mourned another warrior
Cut down by the plague that destroyed our generation
Wasting your body
Closing forever the
Blue eyes
That inspired your singer
That entranced the prince
Laughing in the sun
Laughing in the rain
Babys got blue eyes
And I hope theyre watching over me
03/05/2005 Author's Note: My buddy Vance had many adventures all over the world sharing many stories with me. He was witty, guileless, with a mature innocence. An amazing assortment of people worldwide called him their friend. I shamelessly borrowed from Elton John, knowing Vance would probably enjoy a chuckle or two.
