as the song faded

by Travis G Finborg

a sad song played in the background
something about love
and leaving

the walls seemed too white
in the flourescent light
my eyes were peeled at the edges

i layed there
on a bed of rumpled blankets
the heat of my sweat slowly cooled

i felt sticky and the air tasted sour
a tang of loss filled the void
always i watched her leave

as i slowly receded
sleep would overcome
the song would fade

This piece brings the reader into this moment in time very well, with clear emotinal images.. and you tie it up very nicely at the end. Great work..
