Who I Could Have Been

by Charles M Harrison

I wonder who I could have been,
if I had been allowed to live.
What I could have accomplished,
what to this earth I could give.
Could I have been a lawyer, or the president,
could I have done shuch things?
Could I have been a loving daughter
or a son and known the joy that brings?
I will never know
what could have become of me.
For I was a mistake,
I was not meant to be.
So my life was taken
before I was even born.
Only my Lord cried for me,
only my Lord did morn.
What right did they have
to take the life that was mine!
Don't they know I had a right to live,
why must they be so blind!
Now I will never see
the blue sky above my head.
I will never know what it's like
to have the green grass for a bed.
Worst of all there are people
who would have given me a home,
Loving couples who can not have
children of thier own.
What is done can not be changed,
my time has now past.
I pray to my father in heaven
Dear God let me be the last.
