"I love you" (sappy)

by Madeline Pestolesi

Months ago you said
Words I never thought I'd hear from your lips
With a meaning more than friendship.
As you whispered into my ear,
My fear overcame my emotions,
And I pretended to sleep,
Not sure If I'd been dreaming.

Unsure I felt it too.

It hit me a few days later
When you made me laugh harder than anyone ever had,
When you touched my cheek more softly than anyone ever had,
When you told me I was beautiful when I felt fat and blemished,
When you told me you would do anything for me,
When you introduced me to your friends and they would smile and say "I've heard so much about you."

That's when I knew
I love you, too.

Author's Note: I know it's sappy, and I apologize, but even I create the sappy love poem every so often, and trust me, he deserves it.
