Whatever happened?

It seems like yesterday
we were in class third hour
talking of our band
the plans and how we were going to do it
make the difference no one else would
seemed those days would last forever

we thought each others thoughts
voiced them before they could be spoken
riddles we figured out
near misses and razor thin edges
laughing at the impending doom

Friday night ball games
late hour restaurant visits
another song written on coke stained napkins
we kept those for years
and never really finished them

double dates with our girls
talking as if we knew what we were doing
impressing whom we thought we should
making a statement with our clothes and words
we knew we make the difference no one else would

late night cram study sessions
borrowing each other’s cheat sheets
late arrivals from lunch outside the campus
blaring music out of car windows
we thought we were cool

plans made for college
we each went our separate ways
but today I remember our pact
the plans and how we were going to do it
make the difference no one else would
seemed those days would last forever
It seems like yesterday

I wonder whatever happened?
