To Just be

by Jane E Pearce

Oh, to just be

able to wonder

at it all anew,

to count the grass,

and hug a tree,

as only a child

can do,

to spend hours

at random play,

to be fed and cared for

every day,

to see cloud pictures

in the sky,

stand on a hill,

and know I could fly,

whisper secrets

to a friend,

and think the Eden

would never end.

.

If ever one wish

was granted to me,

I'd choose to go back,

and just be.

Beautiful... a birthday wish! And it came true--in this poem. Gives me little shivers. I love the way you play with "just be"!
