eternal springs by Charlie Morgan
...de Leon's endeavor was not in vain.
a sping of youth he never attained.
still, he looked, and he believed
those younger years could be retrieved.
what's not now, but, surely was before
is man's search for the Evermore.
live once, live twice at the most
seems our assignment, our standing post.
youth's in the mind, or so it appears,
a palate of thoughts we can smear,
on the canvas of life to prove us here
will be words, progeny and all that's dear.
