Watching From Heaven

by Charles M Harrison

A little girl looked up at her mother as she walked by,
and asked her this question, "Is it true that mommies can die?"
The woman stopped and thought, then gave the best answer she had.
"Yes my dear one it is ture but when it happens please don't be sad.
God has a special place in heaven because to him mommies are dear.
There he lets us watch over the ones we love and hold their hearts near.
So even if I could not be here to hug you and hold you tight.
I would always watch over you and my love would tuck you in each night."
The little girl had grown to a woman when her father called with the news.
She remembers how she had to rush because there was no time to lose.
There had been an accident and she may not have very long.
She had to hurry if she wished to say goodbye before she was gone.
Now she sits in the church but the words she does not hear.
She is thinking of how her mother is watching and holding her heart near.
Even in this moment of sorrow she sheds a tear of joy.
As she looks down at her child, her precious little boy.
She knows that for the first time since her mothers birth,
Her mother can see the ones who gave her life worth.
All her life her mother never saw a day with any light.
For she was never blessed with the gift of sight.
The little girl who is now a woman smiles because now she does know,
Her mother can truly watch over her as she had said so long ago.
