at 10:30 the meeting starts,
the people begin
immediately
to bite the real words,
the ones, you know,
that are never carried openly
into these meetings...
instead,
we're sycopants, all.

pursed grins hide truer feelings
that are screaming to be out
into the air, into the ears
of others to make us bonafide.
but a paycheck(called a career),
hospitalization, HMOs, braces,
cheerleading uniforms, gowns,
little Johnny's happiness
keep us untrue to self.
