Apart

by Beth K Hannah

Losing:

Nothing fits anymore
As if every second fell to pieces
And promises sealed in circles were really squares
Love is not a true course, not tangible, not capable
Just purely a pretty destructive lie.

Drowning:

I wish I could drench the world in salt water
Metaphorically speaking- I would cry/die/fly to somewhere
Lies, love, faith, childhood, ideas that it would be good.
Destroyed by carnal beasts that will grow weary
When their make up world smudges
And no one understands why worlds have to fall.

Falling:

I no longer want to envelope myself into this melodrama
Of promised intentions, flowers, and completeness.
It all falls when we die, if not when we lie.
No sunset is ever going to be beautiful, no raindrop incredible
Just another night of wondering if this promise is fake.

Epilogue:

And she will die in sadness
And he will be a tramp's play toy
And I will wish to be seven again.
