The Race by Maria Terezia FerenczThey fell out of my mouth
before I could rein them in
and ran like wild horses
saddled with sin
try as I might
I could not stop the ride
the race was on
between envy and pride
envy was lagging
neck to neck with greed
pride was ahead
outrunning love
strides ahead of anger
and help from above
sadly leaving pity behind
outrunning my heart
my soul
and my mind
Such was the race
my heart could not win
Pride the wild horse
saddled with sin 02/03/2005 Posted on 02/03/2005 Copyright © 2024 Maria Terezia Ferencz

Posted by JD Clay on 02/05/05 at 01:09 AM Virtuous poetry, Maria. This fine piece seems somewhat scattered and plays all the instruments in the philharmonic orchestra. That, or it's too complex for my rattled brain. Very racey!
