The Winter of Our Discontent by Betania TeschQuietly,
with the pentrating
sparkle of winter pavements,
your memory blinded me
as night swallowed me
with skin cracking cold.
Hurriedly,
with the scraping
of cold on cold,
my feet moved me
further into the longing
to reconcile the
irrevocable.
Achingly,
with the anticipating
face of a child,
I pulled back the curtain
on your life
and the icy draft
of my breath pierced
the bloody faultlines
the season of lovelessness
this bitter year
(I)
made in your skin.
I tried to infect you,
but settled
for making you wince. 02/02/2005 Author's Note: I just wanted to write SOMETHING.

Need I say more?! Beautiful and breath-taking, from the title to the stanzas it is perfect. :) |
