Educate Thyself

by Kenneth Lau

They never teach you in school
How when you get older
It's so easy to let your senses dull
To the drone of the world's routine...

They never tell you how fast every day passes
When you let the day control your destiny
Or how just how many small cubic spaces
The grown-ups waste their lives in...

They never teach you in school
That you already ARE great
That you know whats best for the world
Better than the rest of the world does...

They never teach you
To appreciate what you want to appreciate
That staying alive these days
Is as easy in shack as it is in a mansion...

Nor do they teach you
To feel the energy of the earth
To let your heart sing with the birds in the morning
And enjoy silence wherever you might find it...

Just break routine
Live for a day
And you'll wan't to live for thousands more
And you'll see how much more you can learn!

Author's Note: So hahah I haven't written in awhile...I'm a little rusty. Still, I like the sentiment of this one, even if I feel a bit cheesy posting it.
