A BOY...A GIRL

by Mark Maxey

a boy
a small boy
a blonde haired boy
who had a dream
carried in his pocket
full of marbles and jacks

sat
sat down
sat down upon the dirt mound
where he buried his dreams
next to the dreams his father buried
twenty years earlier

the boy
the boy grew
the boy grew beyond the place where he had buried
his dreams and went away
to live and learn in a city twice his size

a girl
a young girl
a young girl in a big city
cries for a boy from another town
to come and resuce her away from her drab world

a boy
a girl
a boy and a girl await to meet
and start their family, live their life, build a house..and grow old

a mound
a mound of dirt
a mound of dirt where it all begun
because someone planted a dream
a dream that awakes in the lives of those
who ventured to believe dreams come true

Oh Mark, I think this one might just be my favorite of yours so far, but you have so many that vie for that title. This makes me feel warm all over...still dreaming the dream :)
