THE REASON (unfinished)

by Mark Maxey

I heard of you before
Ages ago masked by lore
Rebal rousing was the lure
Asked demands were not assured

Now you pop up again
After all these years
You want me to come play
Yet I am afraid of the pain
You seem to speak truth
But you always appeared this way

I wait for you upon sidewalks you don’t walk
Down the street is where I first saw you
Not even knowing your name…I wait for you.

I love the feelings expressed in this, well worth working on some more. The last stanza is very powerful.
