You hide within the shadows
expressing ways not seen
you hide from the light
as if you don’t belong

every street corner
I see more of you
in the alleys and in the shadows
living out their life in the dark

yet it is the ones
who lunged...bolted out into the light
and found their beauty

why can’t you see
the beauty you are
instead of staying in the dark

come out and play
walk along another
who was like you

a fellow comrade lost in the shadows
but now in the light of the day
