forever is a time

when we lovers speak of Forever
like we speak of a river,
where it starts, where it turns,
where it surges, where it calms,
where it foams and broils
with life-giving oxygen ...
and
we say it runs when in fact
it lazes, it rolls, it tosses,
and it cools, it wettens,
it gives life.
Forever is a river.
