as life develops
in all ways you lose.
trying as you might,
you're still awash by the blues.

which will be your dilemma at
each morning sun's rise.
truth, while once your flagon,
is now brimming in lies.

happiness, as ever elusive
will be found alit and yours.
while pained existence is the roadway,
growth and change, mere hurdles to endure.

on the verandal cusp of death,
we see a bright light.
choosing sadness or humour,
we describe our life.
