Colors Kiss by Shonda Creemerpurple fingernails
& the flame
of a mauve candle
black ink spills
on the yellow pages
as the orange glow
of the cigarette
reminds me of my temptations
covered by burgundy sheets
underneath an ivory blanket
Im warm
but Jason Bunny is still blue
a silver ring lays
upon the brown dresser
a symbol of my cinnamon
days with Kaos
for a moment
I am content with my colors
all so different
but each such a part of my life
existence
and I smile at my night
pausing for a drag
another color
gray smoke
reminds me of the cloudiness
but through my faded auburn hair
I can see the brightness
of my room
myself
my rainbow
and for now this
is where I belong
surrounded by my hues
caressed by my thoughts
a mixture I shall never forget 02/08/1998 Author's Note: written a long time ago on a cold, lonely night ~ still there, still cold, still lonely

"pausing for a drag
another color
gray smoke
reminds me of the cloudiness"
is a great line full of vivid imagery |
Posted by Michelle Angelini on 01/24/05 at 07:42 PM Shonda, you've written where I live in this poem. It's the world I isolate myself in too often (minus the cigarette). Soon my world will be less lonely because of some major changes in my life. I wish you bright colors on dark days, warm thoughts to heat the chill, and a circle of friends to surround you with love.
