Contest: Didactic Daydreams by Mark MaxeyWondering souls exist
The sky expressed ambient blue
Workers constructed ambiguously
Children played on the grass
Travel down a forgotten road
Neon café signs illuminated the barrenness
Wild animals ventured past the fence parameters
A mountain top overlooks the land
Electrical currents transmitted emotions
Screens show celluloid that endlessly loop
A half pot of coffee sits on the stove
Lonely dogs rifle through a trash bin
houses where an antique chairs have lace doilies
A star emits its final hurrah of interstellar existence
Notes from a cello echo down a dorm hall
Burnt toast jumps out of a toaster
Music plays inside a tavern
A tape with numbers protrudes from a register
Twisted barbs of wire escapes no one
A book lies upon a bed with bent pages
Rudimentary lessons remain on a chalkboard
A single leaf whisks down a sidewalk
A seedling pops its head up from the parched ground
And didactic daydreams usher in hope for one
