Topic: Black and Blue

by Melina Raven Maness Diebold

I saw your eyes when I talked to you

and couldn't believe what was staring back

the iris that once was Alice-blue

is now the darkest void of black

The soul that cast it's moral hue

is dead and I can see it's lack

You have an animal's stare, you do

and I can't forsee your humanity coming back

What wasteland must lay full view

under your brows where aquamarine once sat

Is now just ornery onyx orbitals in lieu

A duo of seething soullessness peering back

Mina, this is a wonderful interpretation of the topic and quite different from mine. I enjoy seeing the poetic interpretations. Keeps me going. Very good work!
