Tarry

by Alison McKenzie

Ferocious heart in rhythm strong
Don’t be late, oh, don’t be long
Tarry here for just one day
Find your reason to delay

I’m left with raining, weeping skies
I’m left here swimming, pool of lies
Truth not cloaked in winter’s freeze
Come put my aching soul at ease

I wish to soar above the clouds
Lingering in hope allowed
Your crashing symbol, thunder roars
Forever grounding solid doors

I’m granted access once for all
I’m left in Thunder, Spirit’s call
I pray the truth is bigger still
I pray for strength to do Your will
I pray that Love will light my way
O’ tarry here for just one day
