THE PATH TO THE MILKY WAY by Phil WallingTHE PATH TO THE MILKY WAY
Cruising into space, I set my car into hyperdrive
I listened for the sound of the music of the spheres
Turning around the corner, there was a planet
made of orange and green.
It looked luminous and translucent, but still
I could see nothing.
I followed the path to the milkyway.
Falling down, I noticed there was a lot of ground around me
I lost my orbit, or so I thought --
But nevertheless, I still reached down
and looked beyond
Beyond the stars and the shape
and the galaxy.
Still I saw nothing
Still I saw nothing
Then from behind, I heard another sound
A sound . . . .
(of silence).

Posted by Amanda Bullington on 01/22/05 at 07:11 PM I really liked the imagery in this. I liked the ending too, how it kind of tapered off into silence. Not completely sure what the silence thing is about though... I'd love to know. nice work. |
