THE PAPAL DRUM

by Phil Walling

THE PAPAL DRUM

The evolution of the Papal drum
Is teasing to my ears
And though I fake the warning sign
It's chopping time, to me

Video dear.
Warm it fast
Picture clear
Certain past

Test patterns
Neon energies
Trials of mock error
Mirror in my tea

Picture depth awry
Consider fruitless endeavours

Positive
Incestuous - et Brutus

Blue coloured laughter
Death

I am the further out
Insidious by nature
I shatter complexities

I am the numbers 3 to 5
I am the doldrums to stay alive
I am the awkward in

Who dares disturb the spoken form,
The secret sense and poignant phrase -
Who tracks ambiguities to prophecy -
Who creeps in the shattering man,
in spurts and whims?

I am.
