just one more drink

by Olivia Weinkein

she sits in dark corners
so he can't see her. all of her perfect times
begin with "i remember when.."

it's a long way from home little girl and one
more drink will not change anything.
and
i'm not laughing at you, i'm laughing with you
because i was you once, fidgeting in my seat
expecting something to come out of all of this.

counting past loves on fingers and toes expecting
it all to add up to something worth more than
one more drink will not change anything.
i should know.

i drank my last drink again
