I WATCHED YOUR EYES WHEN

by W. Mahlon Purdin

I watched your eyes when
We were in the depths.
They were confused and weak
And they were doubting and
Wisening.

I watched your eyes when
We reached the heights.
They were bright and confident
And they were knowing and
Careless.

I watched your eyes when
We were just walking along.
They were aware and expectant.
And they were happiest
Then.

Bill, I enjoyed reading this. At the end, I expected the next to the last line to be end-stopped, with "Then" with ellipsis after it, so it trails off as a thought or unspecified action. JMHO, you're the poet. Good work!

Those eyes are the windows to the soul. Shared wisdom Mr. Purdin. I am enjoying your library.

Beautiful and insightful. I love the warmth of this; the caring and passion are wonderful. Well done.
