Your God

by Ava Blu

I watched you walk away carrying my hope in your hand
I saw you crush it pretending to regret it
I knew
Behind those tears was a smirk
You turned and looked right into me
Those eyes burning with anticipation
I could see the confusion building within
- as clear as the nails through your wrists
you expected me to bow down like the rest
but I refused to be another consequence
you came towards me with anger in your eyes
I saw everyone’s soul combining inside you
I knew that was supposed to be my fate
You came so close
We looked dead in each other’s eyes
I held your sacred knowledge in my hand

I crushed it

No reason to pretend
You knew
Behind my body was a soul that would forever belong to me

I turned and walked right through your religious lies.

Author's Note: Ah, I used to be so full of hate towards God. He was blamed for everything.
