Tsunami by Teri T LahmonLove is like water-
So insidiously innocuous.
The breeze barely stirs
and the sea is playful
tickles our hearts
invites us to revel sunkissed
in its varying depths.
The undercurrent massages and caresses
and we are encouraged rainkissed
to bathe to drink
to indulge in its many forms.
It is seductive, the water-
it whispers
and tastes to know our bodies
finds small crevices in valleys
we did not know existed
It rolls us in its affections
and promising eternal possibilities
lies us beside it sated and giggling
reminding us occassionally
with its secret licks
of quiet unobtrusive unforgettable pleasures.
We forget in these times
The terror of the storm
the horror of drowning
of slick silver fingers sliding down
as we gasp for life.
We forgive at these times
The way departing rain left us shivering and cold
How the dampness settled in our lungs
and stole the warmth of our blood.
We are blind in these moments
to the change in the nature of the wave
the hint in the current
that something awesome approaches
to sweep away our screams
and harangue our broken hearts
into silence. 01/03/2005 Posted on 01/04/2005 Copyright © 2025 Teri T Lahmon
