The Exodus of You

by Shonda Creemer

I thought I caught a glimpse of you
in my reflection today ~ a surreal
disillusionment of existent desires.

I thought I experienced your
brilliance in the finite movements
of a yellow butterfly gliding about
on the winds of change.

I thought I felt your breath
within my heart, so faint
~ stimulating diminutive lies
in my delicate parcel of love.

I thought I heard your voice
in the laughter of my tears,
dancing upon my face resonating
the silence with strobes of remorse.

I thought ~

I thought you were

tangible
palpable
incarnate

Now I know you are but a thought
bidding my notions good-bye.
