New Years 2005 Fool

by Christopher Shin

A year goes by in
my mind I'll always
be the boy that felt
the excitment of life,
when love was a dreamer's
dream.

I stare at my fingers as
new wrinkles create new
layers on my hand.
Five in two thousand
was a count away.

Yet I wonder where you
are in my life?
I have always thought
that I'll never be like
the guy next to me.
To be to bold and ambitious
to be a fool.

Yet I realize that guy
risked it all to
leap over the edge to
find happiness in life.

I was the fool that
cried over spilled heartache.
I am still young now,
and I will be that fool.
I'll leap and plunge to
find my way in life.

I'll take the risk that
we are all afraid to take.
Cause I got only one chance
in this crazed life.
I'll be there in the battlefront.

I'll kiss the girl,
and laugh as wrinkles
surround my face in
a hopless war against time.
So lift your glass and find
joy with me.

Take the plunge without
second thoughts of how you came
off in the past.
Lunge and I will be there with
you as a fool amongst saints.

I completely understand what you are saying here and, you give the readers something important to consider, especially at the beginning of a new year - well done :) ~Megan Langley

Chris, I enjoyed reading this. Very well done. One suggestion - is stanza 7, is hopless supposed to be hopeless?
