Shore of Depression

by Tota Longmire

Walking on an unknown beach,
Waves of confusion hit my feet.
Try to pull me out to sea,
Out to the depression deep.

I’ve been in the ocean,
I’ve drowned there before.
This beach is different.
The familiar ocean calls me.

I’ve survived the depression.
Though it was odious,
At least it is familiar, known.
The waves of confusion grow.
