Seasons of Life

by Thomas K. Hunt

Like springtime at winters end
nature offers to extend
All is new and all is cleansed
New life will begin again

Wide eyes gaze to the future
Pursue trails, chart their course
Most uncertain of their direction
Hope to avoid futures remorse

Half closed eyes look to the past
They've seen the years move too fast
Lived their seasons through their fall
Silently sit and now recall

Eyes of winter
Tired and worn
Will smile in spring
Will be reborn

They see the joy that spring can bring
In babies eyes and cries that sing
Feel the warmth that their life remains
running through their children's veins

Seasons change like families do
Lessons learned by me and you
Again will blossom in the spring
The love and joy that life can bring

"Half closed eyes look to the past They’ve seen the years move to(o) fast Lived their seasons through their fall Silently sit and now recall" My favorite stanza, since I've often thought and said almost the same words. I enjoyed reading this poem and it's another addition to my favorites list.
