topic: renovating yesterday to make room for tomorrow

by Amanda L Marron

Cardboard boxes in the storage unit
collecting dust along with the memories
contained within them

a teddy bear given by your first boyfriend
“I love you with all my heart”
reads a moldy greeting card

memories stored far away
only remembered when its time to clean
to be rid of precious recollections

making room for newer memories
always at the front of our mind
but what of the old?

Baby shoes, in which you took your first steps
yellowed wedding dress
that you only wore once

days of old, days of new
how can you choose
what’s to go and what’s to stay?

Very nice Amanda. Though possessions may leave the memories go on....Charlie (may the Christmas merry be with you this day)...Charlie
