Chocolate is His Name

by James Zealy

Chocolate is his name
A pretend horse character
Defined in a little boy’s brain
Linked to his Grandfather’s specter

Until today
When a small Christmas ornament gift
Presented in his absence lay
Before me on paper package sparkle swift

And there was chocolate
Adorned in paint brown
Staring at me enlarging my heart desolate
Tears welled as my eyes drowned

The sorrow felt
Recent heart loss tender
But grandfather soul chance dealt
Me as the new chocolate messenger

James, this is so tender, of course, I shed some tears. May your chocolate horse be a reminder of sweet memories. Bless you, my friend.
