The Desert Takes

by Leandra K Brossard

The Desert takes my husband and makes him a stronger man.
The Desert takes my husband and makes him a lonely man.
The Desert takes my husband and makes him a quiet man.
The Desert takes my husband and makes him a hungry, gritty, sandy,
sobbing, solemn, tired, throbbing, angry, anxious, quelling man.
The Desert takes my husband but his soul is safe with me.
Thank Goodness for little miracles.

Author's Note: Written the day my husband deployed a second time to the Desert. I had to get something out..

such an important first-hand testimony to the soldier's wife's experience, very movingly told. I pray both that the desert relinquishes him fine and well to you soon, and for PEACE ON EARTH one day soon too.

Yes, normally external causes internal. The good aspect here is that within remained intact.
