Piery's Shore X (December)

by Leonard M Hawkes

Unseen are the northern rocks,
Swallowed in sulfury mist;

Southward, the half moon's
Broken eye gapes cold
On my nakedness.

Westward in the salt marsh,
A bird's shriek fractures the night;

Indecisive with wintry hope,
I gaze eastward,
Searching for Light.
