The enchantment of silence by Traci MabatsHow long have I forgotten
old footsteps
that fade so quickly
behind me
Like long winter walks
in the snow
My path always
covered
in a blanket
of obscurity
and other peoples voices
Words became so meaningless
that I no longer
feel their need
nor do I hear their beauty
{except when said in irony}
Dismay is my only savior now
Heavy is the only way
I know how to feel
I stand here
under the flurry
of grey and indifferent skies
and feel myself grow colder

Posted by Richard Paez on 12/18/04 at 05:54 PM Hey dreamer--I know exactly how you feel; I have been in the same cold/heavy place recently. I like how you made the poem's pace match the imagery--it plods with the rhythm of feet pulled through snow. I like how although you never directly mention snow falling, the entire poem captures the image and feeling of it coming down constantly. Great write, Shar, thank you for sharing it. --R |
