"Roll On"

by Ava Blu

Your eyes are failing again
Their color seems to be fading
Sparks once able to start my fire
Igniting only anger now

Raking piles of regrets
As they fall at your feet
Lost among your shadow
Aimlessly traveling to your street

I see you looking in the mirror through the window
Light playing tricks upon your soul
Almost innocent
But I know within you have many holes

I would have brought cement
If I thought you’d love me
Instead I have duck tape
To console long enough to get away

Taped your mouth
Couldn’t stomach the lies anymore
Locked in my trunk
I’m gonna bury the past

Throw you in the river
Where we first kissed
Begging for love
Ironic, the point you just missed

Drove back to your house
Just to look in that same mirror
Praying for my soul to trick the light
Almost guilty
As the shadow engulfs my sight.

Begging for his life instead of for love? Ironic indeed, hon.
