Hiding in the Sun

by Thomas K. Hunt

I went searching for some sunshine
In October, the day you were born
I struggled with your silence
When you looked at me I was torn

We got lost in the innocence
Young hearts trying to survive
But you grew up way to fast
With your baby by your side

To see you and not hold you
It ripped me up inside
So I had to follow the sun
Tried to find a place to hide

To see you with another man
It was something I couldn’t bear
When you put on that wedding band
I just had to get out of there

I still hold you in my dreams at night
You softly whisper my name
You appear in the autumn moonlight
And everything seems the same

Mary Mary quite contrary
How does your garden grow
I’ve been hiding here in the sun
I just thought that you should know

Thomas, I love this - sad and painful. Then again, I always like your poetry. ;-)

One additional comment - I thought the ending was wonderful!

romantic and sad and lovely and full of regrets...well written verses of lost love.
