Star

by Uriel Tovar

a lonely existence
in an ice cold plain
radiating heat and distrust--
focusing on the outer in.

the frequent fluctuation of its crown can be seen
to hold an empty dream,
someday reaching another's heart.

but a star is out there
in another's plane.
plain truths echoed
of thoughtless beings,
not illuminating hearts
etching phrases
of hope into the hearth
laced with colors of blue and red.

the stars pulse and stop
and pulse
folding into themselves the greed of disillusions
writing their history into empty space
