Indeed Just A Fantasy by J. P. Davies
Here I stand.
A meatless substitute
angling myself towards deception.
An abstract shadow,
given the hint of form,
you bend and twist me.
As If I could ever stand
to let you see the real me.
Hah!
I'll beguile and wrench myself
into the tight little patterns
you've come to expect.
Until sudden combustion
takes me, flies me
high into the sky.
Where my brilliant colours
will flash for but an instant,
until I slowly fade to black.
The curtain drops
to reveal that what you saw
was indeed just a fantasy
