"What I Can't Have" by Max PhineasA new day arises
Your sweet smile, fresh like the Sun
Though it means little to you,
The way you look at me-
Determines my outlook on the day.
You are my morning ray of sunshine
Before its golden-red rim
Peeks above the eastern horizon.
You speak my name
And sing a little song.
But it means little to you.
Just friendly.
But to me, it's everything.
I will spend
The rest of my life
Wanting what I can't have
Needing what will never be mine.
You. 12/08/2004 Author's Note: Yeah, this one sucks. I know. It's just what I'm feeling though.

Posted by Michelle Angelini on 12/09/04 at 04:31 AM I don't think it sucks. It's an honest expression of desire. And, I've felt that way, too. The emotional pain is intense and what is desired is frustratingly in sight but out of reach. Good work Cole. |
