Never Again

by Megan Langley

I try desperately to hide from you,
Those stone-cold eyes
That peek into my inner being
Like no others can.
I feel them penetrating every fiber of my thoughts--
Woven like that afghan
You so proudly acknowledge as your own,
(Though I don't know why you would admit it).
Maybe I'll find some security
Beneath your holey blanket...
Then again, you always know where to find me
With your built-in radar detecting heat--my heat.
The allure of my sweet sweat
That only you could recognize
From our shared moments of passion,
Mingling scents under the sheets--sometimes on top.
You'll sniff me out, I know.
No use trying to escape.
So when you do lay those eyes upon me once more,
Just know I'll never again find consolation
Wrapping myself in your knitted creation.
